About the Film

Logline: When "evil" vampires take over society a good soul must understand which side they are on if they are to complete the calling they found.

Synopsis: As the world is taken over by vampires, Esther and Jerome take on the task of riding the world of "evil." But Esther has doubts and can't tell if they are following the right path and truly doing "good." Jerome tells Esther it is not her place to question their path and she needs to recommit and prove her devotion to what is good.

Director's Statement: While writing the script I wanted an added layer of religious context like Rosemary's Baby or the Sentinel had to help explore themes of right and wrong. Many excuse extreme actions because it is doing a higher powers work, so they could never be in the wrong and I wanted audiences to question if that is true. I wanted the violence to stick out and make the audience feel gross and question if it was necessary. Actions should not have to be extreme before we question if it is the right thing to do.

Extras: We made The Sanctity specifically for NightMinds 2025 Candy Bowl contest. The theme for the 2025 selection was hack and slash. We used that theme literally as well as hacking and slashing different film mediums together with the security camera footage. The Sanctity deals with the internal struggle of knowing if you are doing the right thing much like 1977s The Sentinel.

We had a blast making this film in a weekend and were proudly watching NightMind's livestream when our short was selected for the stream.

The Sanctity will be screened in the upcoming Gen Con Film Festival Friday July 41st at 7:30pm.

The Sanctity will be screened at the Cobb International Film Festival Saturday August 8th at 10:45am.

The Sanctity will be screened at the Illinois Horror Movie Festival October 2nd-3rd.
